About Dr. Carrie Register-Haley
For as long as I can remember, writing has been my sanctuary. As a young girl growing up in the Midwest, I clung to journals, poems, and diaries to make sense of a world that often didn’t make sense to me. I wrote through the confusion, the pain, and the unanswered questions life hurled my way—trying to find clarity where there was chaos. Writing was where I could speak truth without interruption, and it became a lifelong companion.
My story is one marked by resilience. I endured deep trauma—sexual, emotional, and physical abuse—from early childhood into adulthood. Relationships with family, friends, and partners were often fractured, and for a long time, I internalized the turmoil. I kept asking, What’s wrong with me? That question ignited a journey of self-inquiry and academic pursuit.
